The journey began in 2000 with the establishment of the San Antonio Youth Sports Corporation. This first chapter established the foundation upon which the organization would continue to grow. The focus was on creating organized youth athletic opportunities and providing young people with an environment where they could experience the benefits of participation in sports. During this era, athletics served as a vehicle for teaching important principles such as:
The organization believed that youth sports could provide much more than an opportunity to play. It could provide young people with an opportunity to belong, develop confidence, learn responsibility, and discover their potential.
THE FOUNDATION WAS ESTABLISHED.
The San Antonio Youth Sports Corporation created the beginning of a legacy that would continue into the next decade.
In 2010, the organization entered a new chapter as Alamo City Elite Athletics. This era represented growth, evolution, and a greater emphasis on athletic development and competitive opportunities.
The organization continued building upon its original foundation while expanding its approach to youth athletics. The Alamo City Elite Athletics era placed increased emphasis on:
The organization recognized that young athletes needed more than opportunities to participate. They needed opportunities to develop. Training became an important part of the experience. Competition became a tool for growth. Coaching became a vehicle for mentorship. And the concept of developing the whole athlete became increasingly important.
THE STANDARD WAS RAISED.
The organization continued to challenge young people to work harder, compete with purpose, accept responsibility, and pursue excellence.
The Alamo City Elite Athletics era helped establish the culture and competitive foundation that would eventually become Barnes Athletics Academy.
In 2020, the organization entered its newest chapter as Barnes Athletics Academy. Barnes Athletics Academy represents the continued evolution of a vision that began more than two decades earlier. While the name has changed throughout the years, the commitment to youth development remains at the heart of the organization.
Today, Barnes Athletics Academy is focused on developing the whole student-athlete. Our programs provide opportunities for boys and girls from Pre-K through 8th grade to participate, learn, develop, compete, and grow. We believe that every student-athlete deserves the opportunity to experience athletics in an environment that promotes:

Our greatest accomplishments cannot always be displayed on a scoreboard. Our legacy lives in the student-athletes who have passed through our programs. It lives in the confidence they developed. The discipline they learned. The friendships they built. The challenges they overcame. The coaches who influenced them. The teammates who stood beside them. The lessons they carried into adulthood. The leaders they became. The communities they now serve.
As Barnes Athletics Academy moves forward, we remain committed to honoring the foundation established in 2000 while continuing to build for future generations. We will continue to create opportunities. We will continue to develop student-athletes. We will continue to challenge young people to become better. We will continue to build teams and communities. And we will continue to use athletics as a platform to prepare young people for the game that matters most: THE GAME OF LIFE.
